Asbestos Inspection & Testing
The asbestos inspection or survey will identify the locations, quantities, friability and conditions of all types of possible asbestos containing material (ACM) in the structure. A licensed asbestos inspector is responsible for identification and assessment of all types of asbestos throughout the building or section of the building that is to be demolished or renovated. Bulk sampling will be the main source of sampling during an asbestos inspection.
Do I Need to Test for Asbestos?
The only way to be sure whether a material contains asbestos is to have it tested by a qualified laboratory. EPA only recommends testing suspect materials if they are friable (fraying, crumbling) or if you are planning a renovation/demolition that would disturb the suspect material. Samples should be taken by a properly trained and licensed asbestos inspector
